I hate to admit it but blogging ain’t easy…

Dear friends,

I looked at my blog site and felt sad that I’ve not followed through…it has been months since my last post and this is what happens when blogging is not your full-time job. Anyhow, enough of the “feeling sorry for myself”.

As you know, I had promised to work on my inventory and yep, I finally did it… The number is 82 bottles! indeed…full bottles. They range from 30ml, 50ml but I have mostly 100ml… I started collecting perfumes about 15 years ago and to my surprise, the stock is quite reasonable for a perfumista. Let alone one living in Africa of all places. Post offices are not the most efficient on our shores! Anyhow, makes me happy not to feel like I had a hoarding disorder <sigh of relief>

My stock excludes the fragrances that I have given away over time and of course a few of the samples and smaller bottles that I bought as discovery sets. Which means that I still have a number of bottles roaming around in drawers, handbags, cupboards, car, etc…

What I have noticed about my little collection is that I have a penchant for buying fragrances from the following houses: Hermes, Serge Lutens, Guerlain, Channel and Atelier Cologne. I have at least 4-5 bottles in each of those ranges and I am certain this will continue to grow as I get to discover the art of perfumery.

Anyhow, let me leave you on this note…my latest acquisition has been a wonderful discovery and I am happy to report that this house is one of the oldest one in Italy (established in 1612). What is so cool about this is that I was so excited to have visited their store in Cape Town… I am talking about the legendary “Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella” quite a mouthful isn’t it? please check them out on http://www.smnovella.it/ and for the South African site, visit their Facebook page on https://www.facebook.com/SantaMariaNovellaAfrica

Till later…
